Below is a short speech he gave to open the conference:
“I consider myself extremely lucky in my job, as I am tasked to work directly with people affected by pain to help translate your ideas, preferences, and hopes to what we do in our clinical drug development program. This event, which we have come to know as US Patient Day, recognizes that if we wanted to reach our goal to provide meaningful, life-changing treatments to people with pain, we needed to intimately know their experiences and hear their voices. This year our theme is exploring the chronic pain experience to see how we can work together to improve quality of life."
The conference was a great success and he went on to lead all sorts of helpful initiatives to give people with pain hope, including supporting the publication of a white paper that surveyed the patient experience in using pain scales. Lars was so dedicated to patients and their needs throughout his long and stellar career.
