Lars! I got the bad news today, thank you for that Dessi! It was shocking to hear, I had no idea that you was in that bad shape - even if I knew about your health issues. Our friendship goes way back to our mutual youth years in Kungsbacka, Sweden, we lived as neighbours and my father was your teacher in school. We have had so much fun together and started to travel together in the middle of the 70s. Our Grand Tour was for three months in the US in 1977 and we have been talking on and on again about all the places, all the people, all the experiences we had together then - and at other occasions, back home, in Denmark or Ireland. Now: who will share the laughs about lousy hotels in New Orleans or dark visits to "magic" shops in San Francisco, now when you are no longer with me? Who to share memories with from bicycle tours around Onsala peninsula, bird watching at the Swedish west coast, who to have long talks with, in person or by phone, about philosophy, world history and politics? You were the easily chosen best man when I and my wife Lisbeth got married in 1986 and you were her friend as well as mine, all through life. We will both miss you so much. This hurts, old friend. It hurts.

I met Lars over 10 years ago in Berlin. Throughout this decade, we spent many days together, through sunny, snowy and rainy days. He was a true history buff and always had a story up his sleeve, I enjoyed very much listening to him and debating various topics. He was a kind and caring man who genuinely enjoyed making the people around him happy.

I had the absolute pleasure of spending a lot of time with him last summer when I stayed in Aachen for four months, just 10 minutes away from his home. We met up many times for ping pong, biking, or dinner, where he would buy steaks, veggies, and loads of beer. After I cooked, we dived into conversations that brought us to discuss and tinker with the meaning of life, consciousness, and many other fascinating theoretical subjects. But he also shared stories of when he was a young lad delivering the mail in Sweden, and what life was like back then.

I am so very happy I got to know him better, and he will always remain very fond in my memories. Rest in peace, dear Lars.

My dear friend Lars,
we met when we worked in common projects back in Grunenthal. During COVID-19 pandemic we use to have long conversations just about everything and he kept a notebook that I begged him to use to write a book. He was a kind, noble, honest, intelligent man that have the unique quality for blending critical listening with critical thinking. In the foto in Spain he loved to have a great meal, with a nice beer in the company of good friends. He will be missed dearly. To his lovely wife and loved children by him our deep condolences. To the family, celebrate his life while mourning his passing.
Best Pedro and Horacio

We first met when Lars was working at Astra in Gothenburg back in the early 2000s. I was able to help him as he set about marketing a new antihypertensive drug. We soon became close colleagues and firm friends, and he and his young daughter and son would come, pretty much every summer, to visit us in England. We had such happy times, and our friendship continued unbroken even as Lars moved around to advance his career, first to Novartis in Switzerland, then Bayer in Germany and finally Grunenthal, also in Germany. We kept in touch right up to the present day and he had a trip to the UK planned for this summer.
His intelligence, warmth, kindness and decency shone through always and we all miss him very much. We very much wish to stay in touch with Victoria and Joakim xx

Lars and I met when we were employed at The Swedish Veterinary Agency in Uppsala. We became close friends. Our friendchip has lasted over 40 years even though Lars lived in several countries, far from Sweden, during these years.  We had long conversations over phone and when we met. Lars was a talented person, well informed about the  present time and the past. Our conversations included many topics and were always meaningful. We did not always share the same views but that made the conversations interesting. We both appreciated walks at countryside.  Lars has made a nonforegetable impression on me. I will miss him very much, our conversations and our longlasting and great friendship.

Dear Vikki,

I were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden and unexpected passing of your father. Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow we feel for your immense loss, and I cannot begin to imagine the depth of the pain you and your family are enduring. I extend our sincerest wishes for strength and comfort during this profoundly challenging time. May the many precious memories you hold dear provide solace and support in the days ahead.

Dear Dessi, Victoria, and Joaquin,

Dessi, I am thinking of when we were with you and Lars in Arizona. None of us could have known that it would be the last time I would see him in person, in fact he kept telling me that you both would be planning to come see us again soon. I am so sorry for your loss and I mourn with you.

I met Lars 15 years ago in Dublin for a Bayer corporate meeting. We spent about 10 minutes on business then, at the bar with Guinness in front of us, we talked for a couple of hours about politics, culture, history and literature. His knowledge of all these topics was incredible, and from that night on we became fast friends as well as colleagues. He was so dedicated to his work—much of the work we did together centered on helping patients with intractable pain issues. He was always a true patient advocate – his work at Grünenthal focused on how he could make a difference for patients with pain. All the advocates loved him for his dedication and easy, friendly way. In the photo area I posted a picture and a short speech he made to open a conference in New York City.

I will greatly miss Lars. We always had such lively and interesting conversations about so many aspects of life. In particular we shared a love of Greek Philosophers-- particularly Marcus Aurelius and Seneca. The philosopher Seneca says "Life is long if you know how to use it." I believe my dear friend Lars very much knew how to use his life.
